The following files may be freely downloaded for personal use:

1. The Half Life 2 Audio Loading Fix (700MB Heapsize)	cfg_700MB_21.zip	V2.1	This is the recommended file for both Half Life 2 and Lost Coast. Only this file will eliminate stuttering and hitching due to sound loading.
2. The Half Life 2 Audio Stuttering reducer (500MB Heapsize)	cfg_500MB_11.zip	V1.1	Only use this if you have less than 1GB RAM and have tried and failed to use cfg_700MB.zip. This will not eliminate stutter but will help.
3. Half Life 2: Episode 1 Audio Loading Fix (1.5GB Heapsize)	cfg_HL2EP1_10.zip	V1.0	Only use if you have at least 2GB RAM
4. Minerva: Metastasis 2 Audio pre-loader (300MB Heapsize)	Minerva_10.zip	V1.0	Only use this if you have at least 500MB RAM.

If you try one of these files please post your results, good or bad, in the audio loading thread. As the Steam Forum moderators are not updating their stuttering tips, regular posts are the only way we have of keeping this fix visible to newcomers.

Release Notes for the comprehensive Half Life 2 Audio Loading Fix (700MB heapsize):

Version 2.1

Shrunk size of sound files by removing unnecessary entries
No change at all to sounds loaded or the effectiveness of the fix
There is no need to upgrade to this release if you have Version 2.0

* Version 1.1 of the 500MB "Stuttering reducer" has the same changes as V2.1 of the comprehensive fix. Again, there is no change to the sounds loaded or the effectiveness of the fix.

Version 2.0

First full release of the audio loading fix, including complete playthrough sounds for all levels of Half Life 2 and Half Life 2: Lost Coast
